When most of us hear "ab work”, we think about crunches and sit ups. Your abdomen will not respond to the common exercises because it is not shocked by things it has already experienced. It is important that you always switch up your ab routine. Instead focusing on getting abs, gear your focus towards building a stronger core. Your core is a complex series of muscles, extending far beyond your abs, including everything besides your arms and legs. It is incorporated in almost every movement of the human body. This means that the core is the foundation of the body and in order to build strength, that foundation must be strong and stabilized. Try these three exercises to build a strong core.

1. The Human Windshield Wiper

Get in a plank position with feet elevated on an unstable surface such as a BOSU ball. Use your hands to move sideways resembling the way a windshield wiper works.

2. Flex Russian Twist

While in the boat pose with butt on a mat, have a partner throw a medicine ball to you as you do russian twists. Proceed to stacking and repeat.

3. Flex Core Blast
